Four residents of Chechnya sentenced for attacking law enforcers

The Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya sentenced to 7-10 years of imprisonment four residents of the Nozhai-Yurt District who were found guilty of a bombing and wounding two policemen.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 27, 2017, residents of the Nozhai-Yurt village heard two explosions. As a result of the explosion, two law enforcers who arrived from Omsk got minor injuries, reported a source from the Chechen law enforcement bodies.

According to investigators, five local residents waited until for two law enforcers approached a spring in Nozhai-Yurt and activated improvised explosive devices (IEDs). "The criminals planted explosive devices near the spring. The IEDs were activated at the moment when two Omsk policemen tried to get water from the spring. Both of them got minor injuries and contusions," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed today by an official from the Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya.

The Chechen SC found Samir Dagaev, Ayub Magomedov, Isa Raduev, and Suleiman Khamzatov, residents of the Nozhai-Yurt District, guilty of the attempt on the lives of the law enforcers and complicity in the crime. The defendants were sentenced to 7-10 years of imprisonment. "They pleaded partially guilty," the Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya reported.
