Dagestani authorities refuse sanctioning rallies against law enforcers' arbitrariness

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) of Dagestan has refused to sanction two rallies in support of the parents of the murdered Gasanguseinov brothers, Djambulat Gasanov, the organizer, has stated, treating the ban as unjustified.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since September 24, the parents of the killed brothers were holding pickets in Makhachkala. On October 1, more than 300 people came to a Makhachkala square to support them. The protesters managed to achieve the transfer of the brothers' murder case to Moscow.

On August 23, 2016, in the Shamil District, law enforcers shot dead Gasanguseinov brothers, residents of the village of Goor-Khindakh, the 17-year-old Nabi and the 19-year-old and Gasangusein. Despite the relatives' demand to conduct an objective investigation, no one was punished. Investigators failed to prove that the assassinated shepherds were militants.

Gasanov intends to appeal to the prosecutor's office and challenge the MoJ's ban in court.

After the case was sent to the central office of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), there is hope for an objective investigation, said Murtazali Gasanguseinov, the father.

"My sons can't be revived, but I don't want other fathers and mothers to lose their sons; and the authorities should not admit this," he has added.

Let us remind you that in November 2017, the case on the attempted assassination by Gasanguseinovs of law enforcers was closed; instead, a case on the shepherds' assassination was initiated.
