Georgia states shepherd's kidnapping near South-Ossetian border

On October 7, Georgian authorities reported that the European Union's observation mission had been informed about the kidnapping of a shepherd from the village of Kirbali near the border with South Ossetia.

Akaki Datiashvili, 50, was kidnapped in the evening on October 6, while grazing cattle.

The information was confirmed by David Tsertsvadze, the attorney of the village. At the moment of kidnapping, Datiashvili's son and his fellow villagers were with him on the pasture. The shepherd could inform them about kidnapping by crying that they would run away, the "Channel One" has reported.

The "InterPressNews" agency reported, referring to the Georgian State Security Service (SSS) that the EU's observation mission had been informed about the incident.

Archil Talakvadze, the leader of the parliamentary majority, has commented on the information about the shepherd's kidnapping near the village of Kirbali by stating to the agency. "This once again stresses the need to let international monitoring there (to the zone of the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict, – note of the "Caucasian Knot")."
