Nikol Pashinyan postpones his resignation
Today, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has announced that he has not yet made a decision on his resignation and explained his doubts with the people's "sharp reaction" against such a decision. It is possible to hold early parliamentary elections even without the Prime Minister's resignation, Nikol Pashinyan has noted.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 2, Nikol Pashinyan made a decision to dismiss six ministers from the "Prosperous Armenia" and "Dashnaktsutyun" Parties. He has also stated that he will resign after the decree comes into force.
Today, Nikol Pashinyan has stated that he does not give up the intention to hold early parliamentary elections in December, but he plans to think about the scenario of holding elections without his resignation in order not to go "against the people."
"I haven't decided yet. If it depended on me, I would have resigned. However, there is a sharp people's reaction against my resignation. And we'll think about this scenario in detail," said Nikol Pashinyan as quoted by the "Interfax".
Nikol Pashinyan has noted that the Armenian parliament was formed with violations. He has called the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) his main political opponent. "If the people decide that this power should resign, then it should resign. I consider myself the guarantor of the process," the "Interfax" quotes the Armenian Prime Minister as saying.
