Internet users argue about fairness of sentence to former Makhachkala Mayor Musa Musaev

Users of social networks expressed different opinions concerning the sentence to the former Mayor of Makhachkala, sentenced to four years of imprisonment in the case on abuse of authority. Some people considered the court's decision to be too lenient in view of the crimes imputed to Musa Musaev, while others called it too severe and recalled his good activities as the head of the city.

Musa Musaev was arrested on January 21. According to prosecutors, Musa Musaev allocated five plots of land and thus caused the budget damage exceeding 48 million roubles.

Many social network users considered the damage caused and the term of imprisonment assigned to Musa Musaev as disproportionate.

"The shameful country and its laws ... monstrous corruption ... they were to sentence him to life imprisonment," wrote user minsk_kazan in the "kavpolit" group on Instagram.

"Honestly, he did a good job," wrote eskerov_robert.

"I'm wondering who these people are who write about the good Mayor ... You can go crazy. Money were embezzled, enterprises went bankrupt, land plots were allocated in contradiction to the law, trees in squares and parks were cut down, and Ak-Gel was ruined!" user anokhinabesit expressed indignation.

Users of social networks have also mentioned a case with massive water poisoning of almost 700 people in October-November 2016 and problems with garbage collection which occurred when Musa Musaev occupied the post of the Makhachkala Mayor.
