Kerch tragedy makes issue of Kuban schoolchildren's security more actual

Out of more than 20 people killed in a shooting and an explosion at the Kerch College, three were buried in the Krasnodar Territory. Local residents report they fell anxiety over the fate of their children in schools.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 17, an explosion and shooting occurred at the Kerch Polytechnic College. As a result, 21 people were killed, including students and college workers. More than 50 people were injured. Residents of Kuban were among them.

According to investigators, the attack was arranged by Vladislav Roslyakov, a fourth-year student of the Kerch Polytechnic College. His body with a gunshot wound was found at the college library.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed by the press service of the Ministry for Public Health of the Krasnodar Territory that 14 people injured during the shooting at the Kerch College still stay at the regional hospital and children's regional hospital. Among them, there are nine residents of Kuban, all of whom got injuries of varying severity. There is no threat to their lives.

Residents of Kuban say the incident in Kerch has intensified their anxiety over the fate of their children.

In the Temryuk District, only several schools are under professional protection, local residents told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Usually, an old lady-waiter stays on watch. Schools and parents are short of money to hire professionals. I never thought about that, but the incident in Kerch showed the importance of protection. If there were a metal detector frame and a professional at the college, such a tragedy would have been avoided," said Marina Yarovaya, a resident of the Temryuk District.

Olga Nezlobina, a resident of Temryuk, said that the tragedy in Kerch "shook her to the depths of the soul." "I always felt no anxiety for my son when he was at school, but now I'm scared. It seems to me the details of the tragedy that are being discussed on the Internet and on TV Channels can become a kind of 'instructions for use.' Schoolchildren may want to repeat that in order to punish their teachers and classmates," noted the woman.
