Two Ingush MPs recall their requests to check border law

Two members of the Ingush parliament and two residents of the republic have decided not to seek a check of the law approving the new Chechen-Ingush border by the Constitutional Court (CC) and recalled their requests.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 25, the CC of Ingushetia began considering the legality of the law on the border with Chechnya. The consideration was based on the requests submitted by 12 MPs and residents of the republic.

The opinion on the bill about the border with Chechnya, signed by Ayub Gagiev, the Chairman of the Ingush CC, states that the border issue should be decided by a referendum, not by the republic's parliament. The CC, most likely, will find the border law to be illegal, lawyers believe.

The next regular sitting of the CC on the border issue is scheduled for October 30.

The recall of two MPs' requests does not affect the check of the law, Zakri Mamilov, an Ingush MP, has stated.
