Mikhail Saakashvili calls on people for mass disobedience to Georgian authorities
Mikhail Saakashvili, the third president of Georgia, has claimed he does not recognize the outcome of the presidential election.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, residents of Georgia have voted in the second round of the presidential election. The results of the two exit polls suggest that Salome Zurabishvili, supported by the "Georgian Dream" Party, won the election.
The opposition has complained about large-scale electoral fraud, including bribing of voters at polling stations throughout Georgia. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reported that the election was held in a calm atmosphere.
"I will never recognize the election results ... That was not a democratic process," said Mikhail Saakashvili. He has called on citizens of Georgia to "move starting from November 29 to the position of mass disobedience to the authorities," the TASS reports.
The politician has accused the authorities of falsifications and bribing of voters.
The first round of the presidential election was held in Georgia on October 28. Following its results, apart from Salome Zurabishvili, Grigol Vashadze, a candidate from the opposition "United National Movement" (UNM) Party, entered the second round.
