Political analysts indicate absence of pre-election contest in Armenia

Many of Yerevan residents interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" have not decided who to vote for at the parliamentary elections to be held in Armenia on December 9. Political forces did not focus on victory, but set a goal to go to the parliament, note political analysts.

The elections to the Parliament of Armenia are scheduled for December 9, and the election campaign began on November 26. In issues of the foreign policy, the parties mainly supported balanced relations with Russia, the European Union, and the United States. They also pointed to the need to resolve the Karabakh conflict, while some of them called for the annexation of Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia.

So far, none of the ten political forces intend to fight for power with the "My Step" block, a favorite of the pre-election race, headed by Nikol Pashinyan, the acting Prime Minister of Armenia.

The main struggle is unfolding around the mutual accusations of candidates from the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), and Nikol Pashinyan. RPA members blame Nikol Pashinyan of the lack of a clear position on the Karabakh conflict.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent asked residents of Yerevan for whom they intended to vote.

"I haven't yet decided to whom I will give my voice, but definitely not for Nikol Pashinyan. I don't believe the new government. The make some empty promises. And the situation remains unchanged: bribes, shabby hospitals, and all problems are solved, as before, through friends," said Ani Petrosyan, a 31-year-old housewife.

Political analyst Grant Mikayelyan, a researcher at the Institute of the Caucasus, has added that the opposition will not fight for power, since the election results are pre-determined.
