In Armenia, elections become last stage of 'velvet revolution'

The results of the elections could be expected, believe political analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot". On December 10, the "velvet revolution" was completed in Armenia, noted political consultant Armen Badalyan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 9, residents of Armenia elected delegates to the parliament. Nine parties and two blocs took part in the early parliamentary elections. Observers reported dozens of violations committed during the voting. According to the results of the processing 100 percent of the ballots, the "My Step" bloc and the "Prosperous Armenia" and "Enlightened Armenia" Parties gained seats in the parliament.

Political consultant Armen Badalyan believes the election results could be expected, since the parliament was legitimate, and all political forces got the support of the voters due to the ongoing campaign.

According to Armen Badalyan, the Nikol Pashinyan's objective is not to gain total control over the parliament, but to launch an economic revolution.

"The day of December 9 drew a line under the entire political system that had been in force earlier. Starting from December 10, the revolution has been completed," Armen Badalyan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The political consultant did not expected the low number of voices got by the "Sasna Tsrer" Party, but, according to him, everything was predictable for the remaining parties: the "My Step" bloc got a majority, while the "Enlightened Armenia" Party got the voices of the pro-Western voters.
