In Yerevan, action in support of Robert Kocharyan ends in a verbal skirmish

According to organizers, about 100 supporters of second Armenian President Robert Kocharyan, arrested on the charge of overthrowing the constitutional order, gathered in Yerevan. They accuse organizers of the rally, including first Armenian President Levon Ter-Petrosyan, of dispersing the demonstration in March 2008, when dozens of people were killed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 11, Robert Kocharyan's supporters demanded to release him from custody.

Siranush Serobyan, a member of the "Civil Platform", believes that Robert Kocharyan was arrested solely for political reasons. She believes he can become an opposition to the current authorities.

"The elections showed that only a third of the people supported Nikol Pashinyan," Siranush Serobyan noted.

Economist Gayane Tavalyan treats Robert Kocharyan as a hero. According to her, as the president, Robert Kocharyan fulfilled his duty and defended the country.

"Under the Robert Kocharyan's ruling, such issues as land renting were not raised. He clearly said that Karabakh would not be part of Azerbaijan, while under the current government it is not clear what is happening," Gayane Tavalyan noted.

At the action, a verbal skirmish occurred between the supporters of the politician and his opponents. The Robert Kocharyan's supporters called on their opponents to leave the place of the action and not to provoke the situation, while the opponents said they also had the right to speak.
