Residents of Yerevan criticize Russian Embassy after murder in Gyumri

The Russian diplomatic mission (Embassy) has failed to react to the murder of Djulietta Gukasyan and to all the earlier crimes committed by Russian militaries in Gyumri, the participants of the picket in Yerevan have stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 5, the 57-year-old Djulietta Gukasyan was beaten up and died in hospital. A serviceman from the Russian military base was arrested on suspicion of the crime. Local residents demanded to tighten control over Russian soldiers.

According to organizers, on Friday, December 14, ten picketers held their action in Yerevan. They stretched a poster near the Russian Embassy reading: "Don't booze; don't beat up women!" They called their action a silent protest.

This is not the first crime connected with Russian military servicemen, but the command of the 102nd military base failed to make conclusions even after the massacre of the Avetisyan family, Temine Vardanyan, a member of the Yerevan Council of Elders from the "Lujs" faction, has noted.
