Opposition demands resignation of Georgian government

At a new protest action in Tbilisi, leaders of the opposition have demanded early parliamentary elections and resignation of the government.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 28, Salome Zurabishvili won the second round of presidential election. The opposition declared large-scale violations, including bribing voters at the voting day.

The inauguration of the new Georgian President, Salome Zurabishvili, took place on December 16 in the city of Telavi (Kakheti Region). The motorcade of the opposition was stopped on the way to Telavi, where they wanted to hold protests, which caused clashes on the road.

In the evening, opponents of Zurabishvili set up tents in front of the parliament building in Tbilisi.

"Our demands are as follows: extraordinary parliamentary elections should be held by the proportional electoral system (instead of the current proportional-majority one, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"), and the government should resign because of its criminal nature," Giorgi Vashadze, one of the leaders of the Alliance "Strength in Unity", has stated live on the "Rustavi-2" TV Company, as reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
