MCC calls on Mufti of Ingushetia to hold dialogue on Sharia Court
The Mufti of Ingushetia is invited to a meeting to be held on January 12 to discuss permissible conditions for the use of a Sharia Court, reports the Muslim Coordination Centre (MCC) of Northern Caucasus.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 13, the Ingush Council of Teips summoned Ingush MPs to a Sharia Court to determine whether the voting concerning the agreement on the Chechen-Ingush border was fabricated. However, out of 30 MPs, only 10 came to the meeting.
"Muftis of Northern Caucasus are concerned about the situation in Ingushetia. It is unacceptable to speculate with religious arguments for political purposes. Participants of the meeting call on Mufti Isa Khamkhoev to listen to them," the MCC reports on its website.
It is also noted that "the incorrect interpretation of the norms of Sharia serves as a ground for potential interethnic and intra-confessional conflicts."
Ingush religious figures supported the opposition's demands to cancel the agreement on the border with Chechnya against the background of a sharp conflict with Yunus-Bek Evkurov.
