A resident of Chechnya detained after posting video with beating

After a video with beating of a man had been posted in social networks, the police identified a suspect, reported the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). Local residents and users of social networks criticized the ways of behaviour shown by the participant and witnesses of the fight.

On January 6, a video of the incident was posted on WhatsApp. The video shows three men, one of whom beats his opponent in the face, while the third man does not interfere in the fight.

According to the spokesman of the Chechen MIA, the detainee is a 25-year-old resident of Argun.

Residents of the republic condemned the ways of behaviour shown by the young people in the video and the author of the video who did not stop the fighters.

"The video is just shocking. A real Chechen man will never allow himself to behave like that," said Kheda, a local resident.

Abdrakhman, a resident of the Urus-Martan District, described the traditional fight rules accepted among people living in mountains.

"It was forbidden to attack a man secretly, from behind, or to beat a man lying down ... Very often, after a fight, rivals reconciled and became friends," the man said.
