In Shakhty, death toll in explosion of a nine-storey building increases to two persons

In Shakhty, while examining the ruins at the place of the explosion in a multi-storey building, rescuers found the body of the deceased woman, who lived in the building.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the morning on January 14, in the city of Shakhty in the Rostov Region, four apartments on the eighth and ninth floors of a residential building collapsed in an explosion. As a result, one person was killed, while other seven, including a two-year-old girl, were rescued from under the ruins. The authorities mentioned a gas explosion as the only cause of the incident.

Rescuers dismantled part of the plates in the building where the explosion occurred, and while examining the ruins, they found the body of a woman, who supposedly lived in the apartment No. 72, the RIA "Novosti" reports today, on January 15, with reference to the press service of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE).

At the place of the explosion, the search for three people whose fate remains unknown is still underway, the TASS reports.
