Kadyrov explains re-fixing borders with neighbours by decision of country's leadership
The clarification of Chechnya's borders with the neighbouring regions, including Dagestan, is explained by the instruction by the country's leadership, Ramzan Kadyrov has stated. He denied that the border changes are due to his "good appetite."
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 22, the speakers of parliaments of Chechnya and Dagestan agreed to clarify the historical borders of the two republics. Social network users expressed their dissatisfaction with the plans to revise the Dagestani border.
Political analysts have noted that the border issue with Chechnya could lead to mass protests in Dagestan.
"In the 21st century, the country's authorities have decided to designate the borders, to completely divide the territories, so that at any time, if the martial law is introduced, they knew our coordinates by 100%," Ramzan Kadyrov said in the programme of the "Grozny" ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Company).
According to his story, the works to specify the borders are carried out "on the instruction of Russian president."
The head of Chechnya has criticized the network users, who are dissatisfied with the actions of the republic's authorities.
The situation with the border clarification with Chechnya is artificially inflated, Shamkhan, a historian, believes.
"We are actually losing our aboriginal lands; while the neighbours are also unhappy that they got so little. It is simply a matter of legal fixing of the borders that have developed over the past decades; while no one thinks about the restoration of historical justice and the return of its territories to Chechnya," Mr Shamkhan has concluded.
