Pashinyan refuses to disclose details of meeting with Aliev

Armenia cannot represent Nagorno-Karabakh in negotiations with Azerbaijan, Nikol Pashinyan said during his first official visit to Russia.

Today, at a briefing in Moscow, Mr Pashinyan spoke in favour of the return of Nagorno-Karabakh to the negotiating table on the conflict. At the same time, the Armenian Prime Minister refused to disclose all the details of his talks with the head of Azerbaijan, calling it "ethically unacceptable."

Earlier, Mr Pashinyan said that his meeting with Aliev in Davos on January 23 was informal; they just exchanged viewpoints on the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, without going into details. The opposition criticized Pashinyan for the absence of information about his talks with Aliev.

Nikol Pashinyan failed to specify the timeframe, when negotiations on Nagorno-Karabakh can resume.

On January 16, the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan met in Paris. The political analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" believe that the meeting demonstrated an attempt by the international community to resume negotiations on the settlement of the Karabakh conflict.

When answering the question about the change of power in Armenia, Pashinyan has rejected any connection with the events in Venezuela. "The difference is primarily in that, unlike Venezuela, there were no clashes and casualties in Armenia. Besides, the events in Armenia were 100% consistent with the Constitution," the Armenian Premier has stated.
