Investigators name homophobia as priority version of killing two Kuban pensioners
A month after the murder of pensioners committed in the dwelling settlement of Ilsky, Seversky District of the Krasnodar Territory (also called Kuban by the name of the main river), investigators regard homophobia one of the priority versions. The suspected killer is detained and gives confessions.
The bodies of two men with traces of violent death were found in a house of the settlement in January. The casualties were homosexuals and were persecuted by their neighbours because of that, the "Novaya Gazeta" writes.
The police have detained a suspect of committing the murder. According to the man, he was drinking alcohol with the pensioners; and they began accosting him. The suspect was fighting back and, according to the police, "overdid it."
Let us remind you that on January 11, the "Novaya Gazeta" reported about another wave of persecuting gays in Chechnya. According to the Russian LGBT Network, starting from December 2018, about 40 persons were detained in the republic for their sexual orientation; two young men were killed. According to Igor Kochetkov, the head of the LGBT Network, the death of the young men was caused by "monstrous torture"; while relatives of the released ones are forced to execute them on their own.
