Issue of concessions in Karabakh conflict infuriates Pashinyan's supporters
The words of the deputy head of the Armenian National Congress about the need to make concessions to Azerbaijan caused a sharply negative reaction from supporters of Nikol Pashinyan.
On February 8, the Azerbaijani news agency "Turan" published an interview with Levon Zurabyan, a Deputy Chairman of the Armenian National Congress, entitled "Levon Zurabyan: we must be ready for mutual concessions."
The interview caused a heated discussion in social networks. Sophia Ovsepyan, an MP from the ruling faction "My Step", has sharply criticized Zurabyan in her Facebook page. "I'm ready for mutual concessions! I change the whole plain Karabakh for such mankurts like you. Shall we start talks, or what?" she wrote on February 9 (the translation made by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent). In the comments, Ms Ovsepyan's supporters approved her statement.
"You, who surrender territories, look into the eyes of these heroes. Perhaps your so-called conscience will wake up, and you will remove your shameful comments," wrote Armine Petrosyan, illustrating her comment with photos of victims of the 2016 escalation of the Karabakh conflict.
In her other posts on the Facebook, Sophia Ovsepyan placed videos of speeches by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in which he declared that "we won't give up our homeland to anyone; we won't give up our victory to anyone."
