Opposition urges Georgian authorities to disclose details of contract with Gazprom

Giorgi Kobuliya, Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, has promised that the contract with "Gazprom" would be concluded till late February, but refused to report its details. The opposition demands to disclose the details of the contract.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that earlier, Russia used to supply gas to Georgia as payment for transit to Armenia. However, in late 2016, Russia demanded a review of the agreement. A new contract was concluded, and the details of the transaction remained secret.

The contract signed with the Russian energy company expired on December 31, 2018, and no new agreement has been signed yet.

On February 13, Giorgi Kobuliya, Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, delivered a report to the parliamentary committee on the sectoral economy.

In particular, Giorgi Kobuliya has stated that the negotiations on signing a new agreement with "Gazprom" are underway. The Minister has promised that the contract will be signed in late February, the "Georgia-Online" reports.

The opposition again demanded to disclose the details of the new contract before its signing.

According to the opposition, the society does not know whether negotiations with "Gazprom" are actually being held and the government does not have any idea how to get the country out of the economic crisis.
