Nemtsov commemoration marchers demand to release Oyub Titiev

The employees of the international human rights organization Amnesty International (AI) have joined the march in memory of Boris Nemtsov in Moscow demanding the release Oyub Titiev, a Chechen human rights defender.

The above march was held in Moscow under enhanced security measures. Activists demanded to find the customer for the murder, for which natives of Chechnya have been convicted.

The Russian politician, Boris Nemtsov, was killed in central of Moscow on February 27, 2015. Five natives of Chechnya and Ingushetia were convicted for committing the murder.

The AI staff joined the Nemtsov memory march in order to draw attention to Titiev's case, Natalia Zvyagina, the director of the AI's Moscow representative office, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Oyub Titiev, the head of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" office in Grozny, was arrested on January11, 2018 and was charged with drug possession. He claims that the drugs were planted to him by law enforcers.

"We demand to stop Titiev's trial and release him. He is prosecuted solely for his professional human rights activities. It is important for us that people defending human rights could act in every region of Russia," Ms Zvyagina has stated.

The action also included a collection of signatures in support of Titiev, activists told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
