Two children brought from Syria to KBR

Two boys from the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), whom their parents had taken to Syria a few years ago, have been brought to Russia. They have to undergo rehabilitation.

According to various estimates, hundreds or even thousands of children from Dagestan, Chechnya and other regions of the Caucasus may still stay in Iraq and Syria. Their lives and health are in great danger after the "Islamic State" (IS or ISIL, a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court) began suffering large-scale defeats, says the article of the "Caucasian Knot" "Caliphate Children: what awaits them after IS".

The two boys from the KBR, whose parents had taken them to Syria a few years ago, have been returned to Russia to their relatives, the Chief Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) reported on its website on April 9.

Law enforcers have established that their parents had gone missing, and the boys were taken to the Russian military base, the MIA's report says.

"Their relatives have identified the boys by photographs; they were born in Baksan; and their relatives live in the Elbrus District. Kinship tests were carried out; and their identity documents were restored; and temporary custody was issued to their uncle, who went to Syria to pick the boys up," Ms Tlinova, a MIA's source, has added.
