A hype associated with a speech delivered by transgender woman Lilit Martirosyan from the tribune of the National Assembly of Armenia was an organized provocation against the revolution and the government, stated Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Armenia.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 6, at the human rights hearings at the Armenian Parliament, transgender woman Lilit Martirosyan, the chair of the public organization "Party of Law" made a speech, which caused a mixed reaction among social network users. On April 8, in front of the Armenian parliament building, people held an action against a speech delivered by Lilit Martirosyan.
On April 9, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan commented on the speech delivered by Lilit Martirosyan from the parliamentary tribune and the protest action that followed. According to the Prime Minister, the hype associated with the transgender woman's speech in the parliament was an organized provocation against the revolution and the government.
Nikol Pashinyan expressed his astonishment concerning the criticism of the ruling political force. According to him, the transgender woman got a passport in the name of Lilit Martirosyan back in 2015.
"He was given an Armenian passport with a word 'male' indicated in an appropriate column. At the moment when the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) gave him a passport and included him in the electoral lists, he was given all the rights and duties of a citizen," Nikol Pashinyan told the "Radio Azatutyun".
