Russian diplomats not let to Ingushes arrested in Egypt
A consul from the Russian diplomatic mission in Cairo could not visit the arrested Ingushes – the Egyptian law enforcers refused to let the consul to prison and to a court session.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 2, the Ingush students detained in Egypt went on a hunger strike, demanding to release them. The young people are handcuffed to beds and left without water, their relatives have reported. On April 18, it became known that the arrested young people stopped their hunger strike – according to their relatives, all the four are severely exhausted.
On April 9, four Ingushes were accused of extremism. The fate of the fifth detainee, Khizir Dugiev, remains unknown. The head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Evkurov, called him a suspect of recruiting potential militants.
Egyptian law enforcers allowed the father of one of the students to meet the detainees; after the meeting, the young people stopped their hunger strike, said Ramzan Pliev's father, who added that he treated the actions of Russian diplomats in Egypt as inefficient – in his opinion, they are indifferent to the detained Ingushes.
Malika Dzeitova, the mother of one of the detainees, has noted that the Egyptian law enforcers are stubbornly impeding the meetings of the detainees with their relatives and consulate officials.
