Armenia accused Azerbaijan of shelling border road

Today in the afternoon, a section of the Yerevan-Tbilisi road near the village of Baganis, Tavush Region of Armenia, was fired from Azerbaijani positions this afternoon, the village headman and the press secretary of the head of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) have reported.

Narek Saakyan, the headman of Baganis, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the shelling began at around 1:30 p.m. local time and lasted for about 40 minutes.

"The Aigepar-Baganis road was the target. Armenian servicemen closed the road for a while; and no one was injured," Mr Saakyan has explained.

Artsrun Ovannisyan, the press secretary of the head of the Armenian MoD, confirmed the information about the shelling of the road near Baganis, the "NEWS.am" reports.

As of 4:50 p.m. Moscow time on April 29, the MoD of Azerbaijan, gave no comments to this statement on its website.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that today Azerbaijan stated 22 shelling attacks on its positions over the past 24 hours, including on those located in the border villages of Djafarli and Agbulag.
