Azerbaijani oppositionist links fine with his comments in social network
Bashir Tariverdiev, an oppositionist, whose kidnapping was reported by the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), was fined on charges of petty hooliganism. He has linked the incident with his critical posts on the authorities in the social network.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 10, the PFPA informed that Tariverdiev had been taken away to some unknown place. On June 11, it became known that he was released from the police.
"I was accused of allegedly using foul language in the street. The court fined me by 100 manats (USD 60)," the activist said.
He believes that the reason for his punishment could be in his ironic posts against the authorities on the Facebook.
Tariverdiev was one of the six PFPA activists detained in March 2018 before a rally against the presidential election. Then, the court sentenced him to 20 days of arrest on charges of disobeying the police.
