Eastern Partnership Conference opens amidst protests in Georgia

Batumi starts hosting an international conference dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership, where a number of financial agreements are to be signed, reports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in March 2013, the Georgian parliament adopted a resolution on the priority of integration into the EU and NATO.

The top-ranking guests will have the opportunity to evaluate the Eastern Partnership, as well as to discuss further cooperation in 2020, emphasizes Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani.

According to the Foreign Minister, a whole series of financial agreements will be concluded during the conference. In particular, it is planned to sign two agreements between Georgia and the European Union, providing for the allocation of 47 million euros to Georgia.

Protest actions are being held in Batumi simultaneously with the conference. Protestors from Tbilisi have joined young people of Batumi and request foreign guests to pay attention to the events that have recently taken place in the country.
