Ingush activists call for release of Zarifa Sautieva

The criminal proceedings against Zarifa Sautieva are related to her civil position, state the Ingush branch of the "Yabloko" Party, the public movement "Support of Ingushetia", and the "Patriotic Union of Women of Ingushetia". They demanded to release the activist.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 12, law enforcers took Zarifa Sautieva, a detained Ingush activist, to Nalchik. She faces an arrest in a criminal case on the use of violence against policemen at a rally in Magas, an advocate reports.

Zarifa Sautieva, the deputy director of the Memorial complex to victims of repression in Nazran, took part in rallies against the change of the border with Chechnya. After the October protests, she claimed she had been dismissed for political reasons.

On July 13, Ruslan Mutsolgov, the leader of the Ingush branch of the "Yabloko" Party, posted on his LiveJournal page a statement of the "Yabloko" Party branch in connection with the detention of Zarifa Sautieva. The activist "became the first woman to fall victim to the criminal prosecution from among the participants of the people's protest movement," and the ground for the prosecution "was solely her civil position," reported the Ingush branch of the "Yabloko" Party.

"From the day of appointment of Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov, the acting leader of the Republic of Ingushetia, the society got a hope for the long-awaited peace and harmony, trust between the authorities and the population of the republic ... Unfortunately, with the change of the leader of the republic, the situation has not changed," notes the statement released by the branch of the "Yabloko" Party.

The statement also calls on Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov to "take all measures to set free all people detained" for participating in the protest action on March 27.

A similar appeal was released by the public movement "Support of Ingushetia" and the "Patriotic Union of Women of Ingushetia" with the demand "to immediately release civil activist Zarifa Sautieva."
