Azerbaijan accuses Armenia of 19 shelling attacks

Over the last 24 hours, positions of Azerbaijani troops were exposed to 19 shelling attacks on the border with Armenia and in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the morning on July 19, the Azerbaijani MoD reported 26 shelling attacks, including with the use of machine guns.

"Over the past 24 hours, units of the Armenian Armed Forces violated the ceasefire regime in different sections of the frontline for 19 times," the Azerbaijani MoD has reported on its website today.

The shelling was conducted out both from Armenia and from the territories under control of the Nagorno-Karabakh authorities, says the message.

As of 11:34 a.m. Moscow time on July 20, the MoDs of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh posted no comments on the above statement on their websites.

After the escalation of the Karabakh conflict in April 2016, the parties agreed on the ceasefire. Despite the agreement, over two years, the parties claimed daily shelling attacks in the conflict zone, as it follows from the infographic "Karabakh after the truce: a two-year war" prepared by the "Caucasian Knot". After the meeting of officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia and Azerbaijan, held on June 20, Azerbaijan stated an almost complete cessation of shelling attacks; however, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Nagorno-Karabakh continues to register violations of the ceasefire.
