Elena Grigorieva, an activist who stood in support of Oyub Titiev, the head of the Grozny office of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" and Ingush oppositionists, was found killed in Saint Petersburg.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Grigorieva was among the nine activists detained on November 26, 2018, in Saint Petersburg during pickets in support of protesting residents of Ingushetia. In March 2019, Grigorieva was detained at the actions in defence of Titiev.

On July 21, the body of the 41-year-old woman with knife wounds and traces of strangulation was found by a passer-by in the bushes, the "Fontanka" writes.

According to the edition, Grigorieva also stood in defence of the rights of LGBT people and participated in the actions in support of the Khachaturian sisters accused of killing their father.

Dinar Idrisov, a rights defender from Saint Petersburg, wrote on the Facebook that Grigorieva "had recently become a victim of violence and was often threatened with murder."
