On August 5-11, 2019, one person fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week of August 5-11, 2019, at least one person was killed in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. No wounded were reported. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The deceased person was a suspected member of the armed underground in Ingushetia.

NAC reports killing of terrorists' recruiter in Ingushetia

At 4:30 am. Moscow time on August 7, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) legal regime was introduced within the territory of the village of Voznesenskoye in the Malgobek District of Ingushetia. In the course of the CTO, law enforcers discovered a militant who was hiding in one of the houses. The law enforcers offered him to lay down his arms and surrender, but the suspect opened fire and was killed during the ensuing shootout. At the place of the shootout, the law enforcers found an improvised explosive device (IED) ready for use, as well as grenades, automatic weapons, and ammunition.

During the CTO, none of the law enforcers and local residents was injured. The killed suspect was identified. According to the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), the suspect was recruiting residents of Ingushetia with a purpose of creating a terrorist grouping and committing a terror act. The suspect planned to leave for Syria later and fight on the side of the militants.

Another law enforcers' raid conducted near "Tangim" Mosque in Makhachkala

On August 9, law enforcers conducted another raid near the "Tangim" Mosque in Makhachkala. The raid involved more than 30 law enforcers. Policemen were checking car drivers' documents to identify violations, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reported from the place. Mobile police patrol checkpoints were installed exactly in the places where visitors to the "Tangim" Mosque mostly often left after Friday prayers, journalist Idris Yusupov has noted.

An officer from the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan confirmed that law enforcers' raid events had been conducted near the "Tangim" Mosque. The MIA's officer has not disclosed the purpose of the verification activities. According to the Dagestani MIA, no people were detained or taken to the police station.
