Interpol stops searching for suspect of attacking law enforcers in Chechnya

The Interpol has cancelled the circular on the search for a native of Chechnya, Ali Bakaev, suspected in Russia of organizing an attack on "Rosgvardia" (Russian National Guard) agents in the village of Naurskaya. This happened after an advocates' complaint, said Mansur Sadulaev, the head of the "Vayfond" human rights organization.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Russian law enforcers had accused Ali Bakaev, a Chechen native, of organizing an attack on a "Rosgvardia" unit deployed in Naurskaya, a district centre. On June 12, 2017, a Bakaev's appeal appeared on the Internet, in which he declared his non-involvement in the attack. On January 31, 2018, Bakaev was detained at the Kiev Airport.

The attack on the checkpoint of the "Rosgvardia" in Naurskaya was committed on March 24, 2017. Six agents were killed; three others were wounded. Six attackers were also killed.

The circular on Bakaev was released by the Interpol on October 3, 2017; he was indicated as an alleged member of a terrorist grouping. The document claimed that Bakaev could come to Egypt, Syria or Turkey.

After his arrest in Ukraine, Bakaev was released and claimed political asylum in this country, the edition "Kavkaz. Realii" has reported.
