NKR reports 90 shelling attacks on its positions within a week

On October 6-12, Azerbaijani militaries fired more than 700 shots, thus, violating the ceasefire on the troops contact line, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the period from September 29 to October 5, the NKR counted 100 shelling attacks on its positions.

Over the last week, the NKR's MoD recorded 90 shelling attacks undertaken by the Azerbaijani side. All of them were fired from small arms, according to the today's statement posted on the website of the MoD of the NKR.

As of 1:10 p.m. Moscow time on October 12, no comments on this statement appeared on the website of the Azerbaijani MoD. However, throughout the week, the MoD daily reported violations of the ceasefire by the Armenian party. Only in the past 24 hours, 22 shelling attacks were committed from the territory of Armenia and from the territories under the control of the NKR, the Azerbaijani MoD has claimed.

After the escalation of the Karabakh conflict in April 2016, the parties agreed on the ceasefire. Despite the agreement, over two years, the parties claimed daily shelling attacks in the conflict zone, as it follows from the infographic "Karabakh after the truce: a two-year war" prepared by the "Caucasian Knot". After the meeting of officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia and Azerbaijan, held on June 20, Azerbaijan stated an almost complete cessation of shelling attacks; however, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Nagorno-Karabakh continues to register violations of the ceasefire.
