Dagestani journalist Abdulmumin Gadjiev complains to the ECtHR of his prosecution

Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a journalist of the "Chernovik" Dagestani weekly, has complained to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) about his unjustified arrest and prosecution for his professional activities.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Gadjiev, who is the editor of the religion section at the "Chernovik", is under arrest since June under the case of financing of terrorism. He refuses to plead guilty.

Pavel Chikov, the head of the "Agora" human rights group, has clarified in his Telegram channel that Gadjiev claim a violation of two Articles of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR): the right to liberty and personal security and the freedom of self-expression.

Human rights defenders treat Gadjiev's case as a threat to all journalists in Russia, and the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" declared him a political prisoner. His colleagues and friends hold regular pickets in his support.
