Writer pickets in Moscow in support of Ingush activists

The Russian writer, Elizaveta Aleksandrova-Zorina, has held a picket in Moscow Arbat demanding to stop repressions in Ingushetia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 28, it became known that Musa Malsagov, Akhmed Barakhoev and Malsag Ukhazhov had been charged with the creation of an extremist grouping, while Barakh Chemurziev, Zarifa Sautieva, Akhmed Pogorov, Bagaudin Khautiev and Ismail Nalgiev had been suspected in participating in this grouping.

On March 26, 2019, residents of Ingushetia extended their protest action held in Magas, which led to clashes with law enforcers. From early April, oppositionists' arrests began in the republic. According to the estimates of the "Caucasian Knot", at least 96 activists were persecuted; and criminal cases were opened against at least 29 of them. The Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" has declared the leaders of protests in Ingushetia, namely, Akhmed Barakhoev, Musa Malsagov and Barakh Chemurziev, as well as Zarifa Sautieva, an activist, to be political prisoners.

On December 28, the Russian writer and publicist, Elizaveta Aleksandrova-Zorina, held a solo picket demanding to release Ingush activists. She stood in Moscow Arbat with a poster: "Stop repressions in Ingushetia!" She wrote about her action in her page on the Facebook social network.

Many users have thanked the writer for her support. "It gives me the creeps. Thank you, Elizaveta, and all those who support us," wrote Isabella Evloeva.

"Liza, thank you for your help; Ingushetia is with you," Khusen Khashiev wrote.
