Gadjiev's associates called on Makhachkala townspeople to more actively support him

Residents of Makhachkala should increase their support for Abdulmumin Gadjiev and continue holding protest actions until justice is restored in relation to the arrested journalist, Makhachkala picketers have stated.

Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a journalist of the "Chernovik" (Draft) weekly, is under arrest since June 2019 under the case of financing terrorism. Human rights defenders treat his case as a threat to all journalists in Russia.

On January 6, 2020, in Makhachkala, seven persons held their solo pickets in support of Gadjiev; more than 20 other people came to support them.

This series of pickets aroused more interest among passers-by in comparison with the previous similar one, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has reported.

According to the observations of Magomed Magomedov, the deputy editor-in-chief of the "Chernovik", new people are regularly joining the actions held in support of Gadjiev.

Thus, Sergey, a local resident, believes that the journalist is persecuted unlawfully, "because someone had disliked his articles."

Akhmed, a resident of Makhachkala, has also reported that he is closely monitoring Gadjiev's fate through mutual acquaintances and social networks.
