Two Georgian residents detained for bride abduction

In the Georgian region of Kakheti, two young men have been detained on suspicion of abducting a 16-year-old girl with the aim to marry her, the police have reported.

According to the police, a 17-year-old teenager and his 19-year-old cousin abducted the above girl from the village of Tulari. Policemen returned her home safe and sound; and detained the alleged abductors, the "News-Georgia" reports, citing the press service of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

A criminal case was opened against the abductors under the article on the unlawful deprivation of liberty of a minor, which provides for from 7 to 10 years in prison, the Channel One of the Georgian TV reports.
