Moscow law enforcers disrupt picket in Gadjiev's support

Gasan Chankhiev, a native of Dagestan, has reported his detention during a solo picket in support of the journalist, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, held in Moscow.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Abdulmumin Gadjiev, an editor of the religion section of the Dagestani website and weekly "Chernovik" (Draft), is under arrest since June 2019 under the case of financing terrorism. He insists on his innocence. In Makhachkala, pickets in his support are held regularly.

According to Chankhiev, on March 20, he went out with a poster to the building of the Russian presidential administration in Moscow. Several protest actions were held there in parallel. "Apart from me, three or four people stood there in solo pickets," Mr Chankhiev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

In just 10 minutes after the start of his picket, a police unit arrived and took Chankhiev to the police station. He was told that they had received a call from a person, who complained that he had a conflict and a brawl with the picketer. "They came, saw that I was standing with a poster, and took me away," the activist has explained. He has suggested that the call was pre-planned with the aim to disrupt the picket.
