Native of Chechnya accused of involvement in IS

In Chechnya, the law enforcement bodies accuse a native of the Naursky District of involvement in a unit of the "Islamic State" (IS or ISIL, a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the "Caucasian Knot") fighting in Syria.

"The police found that a native of the Chechen Republic was a member of a militant grouping in Syria. It turned out that Arsanukhaev, a resident of the Naursky District, born in 1992, travelled through Turkey to Syria to join the IS, a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court. At present, he is a member of illegal armed formations (IAFs) fighting against the government forces of Syria," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya.

According to the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), since the start of hostilities in Syria, about 800 residents of the Chechen Republic left for the Middle East with the aim of joining the IS, a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court, and 724 of them were put on the international wanted list.
