Baisarov, ex-commander of "Gorets" squadron, killed in Moscow

The murder of the former commander of the "Gorets" (Mountaineer) special squadron, lieutenant colonel of the FSB (Federal Security Bureau) Movladi Baisarov became possible because the FSB operative shelter was removed from him after he had decided to evidence at the Military of the Office of Public Prosecutor on what happens in Chechnya. Numerous witnesses of what has happened reject the official version according to which Baisarov "caused a furious resistance." The "Commersant" newspaper wrote about it on Monday.

In one of his last interviews Baisarov asserted that he was ready to answer all the questions of the Federal Office of Public Prosecutor in connection with Anna Politkovskaya's murder. He also considered that the future of Chechnya depends on Alu Alkhanov and his supporters. In his opinion, election of Ramzan Kadyrov to the post of the president of the Republic would result in disintegration of Russia.

Movladi Baisarov was killed by the employees of the Chechen Department for Fighting Organized Crime ("UBOP").

In October, the prosecutor's office of the Staropromyslovskiy District of Grozny announced the federal search of Movladi Baisarov. The formal motive for that was the criminal case initiated back in January 2004 on kidnapping of the Musaevs family in the Staropromyslovskiy District of the city. The bodies of five members of the Musaevs family, including four women, were found several weeks ago in the Groznenskiy District of the Republic.

Movladi Baisarov himself had asserted that the charges against him were far-fetched, and the main causes of them were hostile relations with Ramzan Kadyrov, prime minister of Chechnya.
