Chechen speaker: men to be punished for quarantine violation by their female relatives

Chechen women take advantage of the fact that local law enforcers do not detain them for violation of the quarantine regime, and now men from their families will be responsible for their quarantine violations, states Magomed Daudov, the speaker of the Chechen parliament.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ramzan Kadyrov instructed his subordinates to strengthen the control over the movement of people. The leader of Chechnya has stated that the quarantine violators will be involved in street cleaning.

Since April 13, residents of Chechnya are forbidden to leave their homes without special permits.

Chechen women take advantage of the fact that law enforcers detain only men for violation of the quarantine regime, claims Magomed Daudov, who heads of the Operational headquarters to combat coronavirus.

Instagram user inkognitishe notes that not all women have men who, in accordance with the Chechen traditions, should take responsibility for their actions.

Magomed Daudov appeals to the Chechen traditions, explains local resident Imran. "According to our adats (codes of traditional customs), a man – father, brother, husband, or son – is responsible for actions of a woman," Imran said.

According to Chechen policeman Magomed, law enforcers who monitor the quarantine regime often have problems namely with women.

Earlier, Ramzan Kadyrov has threatened to send to public works authors of videos about the detention of quarantine violators in Chechnya.

According to Ilman Vakhidov, the press secretary of the Chechen leader, inaccurate publications "may provoke a conflict in the media."
