After Kullar protests, principle of compiling lists for departure to Azerbaijan changed
The list of the next group of Azerbaijanis to be sent home in the coming days is being compiled in the tent camp situated on the Dagestani border. The list includes those who have been in Dagestan since April, except those arrested after the June 15 protest action.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 17, more than 400 people remained in the temporary tent camp set up near the village of Kullar; many waiting for departure home for one or two months.
Azerbaijani citizens who failed to get home before the border closure remained to wait for the removal of the quarantine in the pre-border areas of Dagestan.
Camp residents are unaware of how many people will be included into the new list. "Earlier groups included 120-130 people; the last group included 155 people," said Elshan Mukhtarov.
According to his story, the situation in the camp is now calm. "The fair list compilation has inspired people," he said.
Enver Gasanov, an Azerbaijani citizen, living in Russia, has confirmed the compilation of the lists with account of the priority principle.
"Over the past month, about a thousand Azerbaijani citizens have been evacuated from Russia," the "Report" Agency quotes Leyla Abdullaeva, the head of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), as saying.
