Jermuk authorities fulfil one of Amulsar defenders' demands

The trailers of the "Lydian Armenia" Company were moved off the road shoulder as demanded by activists. The authorities must show political will and finally close the gold mining project, Amulsar defenders have stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 6, Jermuk residents blocked the road with a demand to move the trailers of the "Lydian Armenia" Mining Company.

By the decision of the Jermuk leadership, geodetic measurements of the territory of the "Lydian Armenia" were carried out at the foot of Mount Amulsar. Based on the results of these measurements, a decision was made to move trailers inland.

The trailers were located in the territory of the "Lydian Armenia", but in the area, where the placement of any buildings is not allowed, Arman Arsenyan, a Jermuk geodesist, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

It should be noted here that on August 6, the "Lydian Armenia" posted a statement in its Facebook page, in which it treated the actions of Vardan Oganesyan, the head of the Jermuk community, as illegal.

The first activists' demand – to move the trailers – has been fulfilled, Teimine Enokyan, a resident of the village of Gndevaz, has noted. However, according to her story, there are other demands: the authorities should state their position, invalidate the assessment of the impact of the Amulsar field development project on the environment, and finally close the project, she said.
