Amulsar defenders accuse law enforcers of double standards
On August 10, all the activists who were detained during a protest action in support of Jermuk residents were released. Law enforcers drew up protocols against the detainees for failure to obeying a police order. The activists accused the law enforcers of bias, since the police did not stop actions held by supporters of the Amulsar field exploitation.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the situation in Amulsar aggravated after at night on August 4, the geological exploration "Lydian Armenia" Company removed the trailers in which local residents were on duty and installed its own trailers. By August 7, the authorities fulfilled one of the Amulsar defenders' demands and moved the trailers of the "Lydian Armenia" Company from the side of the road.
The police released all the detained participants of the symbolic action in support of the opponents of the Amulsar field exploitation, which took place in Yerevan on August 10, reported Teimine Yenokyan, one of the detained activists.
Nina Karapetyants, the head of the Helsinki Association of Armenia, suggests that the Armenian authorities should respond to the protests of the Amulsar's defenders. According to the human rights defender, the people understand that the fight for Amulsar is "a struggle for the health and safety of our children."
