Residents of Chechnya note modest help to those in need from Kadyrov's Foundation

The Kadyrov Foundation has organized a large-scale charity campaign of distributing food packages among those in need on the anniversary of the birthday of Akhmat Kadyrov, the former head of Chechnya. Residents of the republic have treated the amount of help as insignificant and complained that it failed to reach all the poor.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 23, Chechnya marked Akhmat Kadyrov's 69th birthday. On this occasion, various religious events were held in the republic and flowers were laid at his obelisk in Grozny. Residents of the republic said that officials violated the Islam's ban on erecting monuments.

Instagram users have noted that many of the poor have never received help since the epidemic onset.

"They gave one chicken per family, three loaves of bread, a pack of corn sticks and seeds," said Aset, a local resident.

"What surprised me most was that they spread sunflower seeds. It's somehow ridiculous to equate them with food aid," Fatima, an activist, has noted.

Malika, a woman from Grozny, received no help, although she belongs to the needy – she alone brings up three children.

Residents of Chechnya had earlier complained that aid to those in need from the Kadyrov Foundation was unfairly distributed. "I've been on the list of the poor for several years. During these three months I received help once – two loaves of bread and a chicken," Rumisa, a local resident, stated in June.
