Azerbaijani soldier dies near Armenian border

Elshan Mamedov, a military serviceman, has perished as a result of a provocation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported.

Earlier, the MoD reported that positions of the Azerbaijani Army in four villages of the Tovuz District were shelled from the Tavush Region of Armenia. The fire was also delivered from the territories controlled by the authorities of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), the MoD has stated.

Elshan Mamedov, a long-term military serviceman, was killed in the Tovuz District on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border today, the press service of the Azerbaijani MoD has reported.

"All the responsibility for the aggravation of the situation at the frontline lies with the leadership of Armenia," the MoD's website reports.

Let us remind you that on July 12 the conflict on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border escalated. On July 12-27, six Armenian soldiers were killed, and 38 people others were wounded (35 soldiers, two policemen and a civilian). The Azerbaijani authorities reported 13 casualties, including 12 soldiers and one civilian, as well as four wounded persons.
