Nagorno-Karabakh authorities close all educational establishments

Lusine Karakhanyan, the Minister of Education of Nagorno-Karabakh, has announced the decision to close all the educational establishments since September 28 amid the ongoing hostilities. Local residents have supported the decision.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 27, after the start of fighting in the Karabakh conflict zone, the martial law and general mobilization were declared in Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia. In Azerbaijan, which has called the offensive operation along the entire frontline a response to the shelling of its positions, the martial law and a curfew were introduced since September 28.

"For the safety and protection of the population, I have signed an order to close, starting Monday, September 28, for an indefinite period, all the educational establishments, without exception, from preschool ones up to universities, even private ones," Minister Lusine Karakhanyan has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Parents believe that this is the right decision, although it harms children's education.

Ani Zakharyan has her two children studying in one of Stepanakert schools. She believes that the authorities have made the right decision, because in any case, most children on Monday (September 28) will not go to school and will stay at home until everything calms down.
