Azerbaijan counts 491 shelling victims among civilians

Since the onset of the aggravation of the Karabakh conflict, 91 civilians have perished, and 400 others wounded under shelling in Azerbaijani cities and villages, the country's General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) has stated.

On October 31, Nagorno-Karabakh announced the shelling of Stepanakert, Shushi, Martakert, Martuni and the death of a civilian in the village of Gerger. Azerbaijan counted 300 shells fired from the Armenian side onto 32 dwelling settlements.

The Azerbaijani GPO has specified that there were 11 children, 27 women and 53 men, including 15 elderly ones, among the casualties.

According to Nagorno-Karabakh, as of October 31, as a result of shelling by Azerbaijani militaries, 45 civilians were killed, and 141 others were wounded.

During the conflict, even those settlements located far from the combat area were shelled – for example, the city of Ganja, situated 100 kilometres from the frontline, the GPO has noted.

According to President Aliev, prohibited weapons were used by Armenians, including "Scad" ballistic missiles and cluster bombs.

On October 28, the Azerbaijan GPO claimed that the city of Barda was attacked with cluster ammunitions from "Smerch" installations. The Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have confirmed this data.
