More than 1200 refugees return to Nagorno-Karabakh

During the past 24 hours, 27 buses with refugees arrived in Nagorno-Karabakh from Armenia, accompanied by Russian peacemakers. In total, about 4000 forced migrants have returned to Stepanakert via the Lachin Corridor.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 10, an agreement signed by Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia on the cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh came into force; and local residents began returning to the unrecognized republic. On November 18, peacemakers reported about the return of more than 1700 refugees to Nagorno-Karabakh via the Lachin Corridor.

The authorities have promised to provide the townspeople, who had lost their homes as a result of shelling, with housing; they are temporarily settled in hotels. For the year to come, gas, electricity, water and mobile telephony will be free of charge for the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh; the authorities will be engaged in restoring houses, the President of Nagorno-Karabakh has promised. Meanwhile, residents of Stepanakert have complained officials are indifferent to the townspeople, who had lost their homes.

In total, since November 14, about 4000 residents have returned to Stepanakert, who had left their homes because of the hostilities.

The "Caucasian Knot" has drafted a map to show the territories that will pass over to Azerbaijan after the autumn war. Also, the "Caucasian Knot" has published a deployment map of the Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Let us remind you that about 7000 forced migrants have returned to Nagorno-Karabakh from Armenia by the road via Karvachar (the Azerbaijani name is Kelbadjar). The way via the Lachin Corridor is unsafe, since Shushi (the Azerbaijani name is Shusha) is under Azerbaijan's control, an Armenian political analyst have stated.
